Edith Cavell Memorial
Cavell, a British nurse in occupied Brussels, helped some 200 Allied soldiers escape and was shot by firing squad in 1915. Her memorial carries the words she spoke the night before her execution: 'Patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness for anyone.'
