Newton (after Blake)
A colossal machine-jointed Newton bends over his compasses, taken from William Blake's 1795 print. Blake meant it as a criticism of cold reason; Paolozzi fused Blake's art and Newton's science into a single figure — nature and intellect together at the door of the national library.
